When Good Things Happen To Bad People

I know we have all heard the saying “sometimes bad things happen to good people”

i am here to switch that around and tell the real story

first we have to start out with the good people thing

there arent any

none of us are “good”

not one

now that we got that out of the way we can move forward with the process and make what is commonly known as “progress”

we are not “good” actually we are inherently “bad”

i put these two in quotes because to us good and bad are relative but to God they are absolute

good is holy and righteous and just and blameless i.e. perfect

Jesus said it this way “only God is good”

we are not God

ergo

we are not good =D

that would make us the opposite of good which is

ding ding ding

bad

forgive my writing style but thats just how i get it done

now on to the point of the title of this note

“when good things happen to bad people”

now that we have established what bad and good we will go on to why i made this note

God is good

and He does good things for us

in fact everything that we have is from God

every good and perfect gift comes from God

there is nothing that we have that we have gained because of our own merits

its all from Him

do you have a house?

its from Him

how bout a car?

from Him

maybe you have a loving spouse and kids?

from Him

maybe you have a well paying job that gives you above and beyond that which you need

thats from God too

EVERY GOOD THING COMES FROM GOD

but here comes the real kicker in which i will let the scriptures speak for God because His Spirit breathed words are better than mine =D

6When we were unable to help ourselves, at the right time, Christ died for us, although we were living against God. 7Very few people will die to save the life of someone else. Although perhaps for a good person someone might possibly die. 8But God shows his great love for us in this way: Christ died for us while we were still sinners.
9So through Christ we will surely be saved from God’s anger, because we have been made right with God by the blood of Christ’s death. 10While we were God’s enemies, he made us his friends through the death of his Son. Surely, now that we are his friends, he will save us through his Son’s life. 11And not only that, but now we are also very happy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we are now God’s friends again.
Ro 5:6-11

let me paraphrase

God is good we are not

but He gave His human life for ours

heres another great example

17 Therefore, if anyone sis in Christ, he is ta new creation; uold things have passed away; behold, all things have become vnew. 18 Now all things are of God, wwho has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 that is, that xGod was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not 4imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.
20 Now then, we are yambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. 21 For zHe made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become athe righteousness of God in Him.
2 Co 5:17-21

the last part is the best

we have become the righteousness of God??????

WHAT!?!?!?!?!?

no one can claim they have earned that title

and we know how it happened

it happened and happens only because Jesus became sin for us

how is this for Good things happening to bad people

there is none greater good that could happen to us than to be made right with God

this “Good thing” happened to this “bad person”

have you had this “Good thing” happen to you
