Just Sayin

i believe the Church when it began in the NT didnt have one specific place to meet

they met when and where they could

they didnt meet every sunday at 10:30

now im not against schedules either and i realize that those times and days are just convinient for the majority of people because of our “work six days rest one” mentality even in the “secular” world

but the NT saints didnt think like that

they knew what it meant to have every day sabbath and be free to meet when and where they could

either it was johnnys house or tims house or pauls house or at a conference hall or in the temple courts (which was a marketplace more than a religious place of worship which is why Jesus flipped out there lol)

the point is that we tend to formulate things and i just dont think that the NT saints did that as much as we do

even a vast majority of “house churches” and “organic churches” do this

they even have doctrines that, if you disagree, you are treated as an outcast and/or stupid

some things are blatant but some things are up for interpretation

things like homosexuality

the bible states it as abominable sin

both in the OT and the NT

its just that obvious

stealing lying murder pride hate lust adultery

these things ARE sin and there is no way around it

but other things like eternal security or free will or sovereign grace or satan being and angel or not or any other doctrine that is interpretation and not concrete

just sayin

Take Your Coat Off

Look here is the point. We need Jesus. Take a load off and relax already. “Come to Me…and you will have rest for your soul”-Jesus. This is not a lazy rest where we just loaf around. This is a rest from religious peerformance (I meant to put two “e’s” in “performance”). When people get stuck on obedience and religious works they tend to “spiritual pride”. I’d rather be a sinner. And though I personally think we ALL tend to spiritual pride I believe there is one good way to lessen it a little. That way is to just rest in Christ.

For further study:

Matthew 11:28-30

28Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

29Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

30For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Hebrews 4:3-10

3For we who have believed enter that rest, just as He has said,
although His works were finished from the foundation of the world.

4For He has said somewhere concerning the seventh day: “AND GOD RESTED ON THE SEVENTH DAY FROM ALL HIS WORKS”;

5and again in this passage, “THEY SHALL NOT ENTER MY REST.”

6Therefore, since it remains for some to enter it, and those who formerly had good news preached to them failed to enter because of disobedience,

7He again fixes a certain day, “Today,” saying through David after so long a time just as has been said before,

8For if Joshua had given them rest, He would not have spoken of another day after that.

9So there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God.

10For the one who has entered His rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from His.

So take a load off and have a happy sabbath………every day =D
